AUSTIN – LAWFUEL – Law News Network – Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP announces the addition of David T. Weber as a Senior Attorney to its Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Group in the firm’s Austin office.

Mr. Weber is the former Special Counsel for Policy Development at the Texas Department of Insurance under Commissioner of Insurance Mike Geeslin. His Gardere practice will concentrate on administrative law, insurance, legislative representation and regulatory affairs.

“David’s experience in the industry will prove invaluable to what already is an exceptional Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Group in Austin,” says Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good. “It’s one of those situations where we found someone who we feel is an ideal fit for the firm and we are proud to say he felt the same about us. ”

Prior to his work at the Texas Department of Insurance, Mr. Weber served as a Policy Analyst for Texas Speaker of the House, Tom Craddick, on insurance, economic development, financial institutions, workers’ compensation, and other state and federal issues.

“David has strong relationships, as well as an exceptional reputation, in and around the Capitol,” says Kim Yelkin, partner in the Austin office. “He is the type of person you are proud to have the opportunity to work with.”

Formed in 2002, Gardere’s Austin office has grown to become one of the most dynamic lobbying groups in the state.
