Boston, August 8, 2005 – Holland & Knight today announced that Ken Kozik has joined its Intellectual Property (IP) Law Practice Group, as a Senior Counsel in the firm’s Boston office.

“Although we have a number of patent prosecutors located in other offices across the firm and terrific IP attorneys practicing in other disciplines like licensing, copyright/trademark, and IP litigation, in the Boston office Ken’s skill set rounded out what is already a very strong local group,” said Mark Michalowski, Boston office managing partner. “We are very excited that he decided to join us as going from an IP specialty firm to a national, general practice is not always simple.”

A registered patent attorney, Kozik focuses his practice on general intellectual property management, supervision of domestic and foreign patent application programs, complex prosecution, appeal, validity and non-infringement opinions. His technology expertise includes computer architecture, networks, computer software, business methods, financial methods and nanotechnology.

In Boston, Holland & Knight’s IP Practice Group includes Ieuan Mahony, Edward Naughton, Joshua Krumholz, Daniel Hampton and Esme Caramello.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Kozik was Of Counsel to Fish & Richardson. Mr. Kozik received his BA in 1974 from St. Anselm College and his MS in 1979 from St. Joseph College. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Kozik was a software specialist at Digital Equipment Corporation, a group software manager for a national US defense contractor involved in early warning radar systems, and a technical supervisor in a Fortune 100 chemical corporation. He earned his J.D. in 1993 from Western New England College School of Law. He is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont and is registered to practice with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
