Boutique Law Firm Winner: Candey Takes Out Top Award in Litigation Firm of Year

Candey Law team win the Lawyer Awards Boutique Litigation Firm of The Year 2025

Unlike Litigation Team of the Year, the Litigation Boutique of the Year Award is given for a firm’s all round performance. Firms – which naturally need to be “litigation boutiques” – are judged based on their place in the market, recent case successes and financial performance. The inaugural award was given to Pogust Goodhead in 2023 and Pallas Partners last year.

The winner: One of the “first wave” litigation boutique firms, CANDEY took home the Litigation Boutique of the Year award on Tuesday night. The firm, now made up around 50 fee earners including 15 partners led by Ashkhan Candey, impressed judges with its “impressive mandates,” “innovative” business model and “clear vision”.

Over the past three years, it has opened offices in New York, Vienna and the BVI. Unlike most boutiques, the firm also has its own in-house barristers, with 14 currently working there. The firm has pursued a strategy of investing in offshore work, particularly insolvency and trusts disputes. It prides itself on supporting a good work-life balance for staff, with significantly lower target hours than competitors firms, meaning it can also attract high quality staff.

The firm has acted on the likes of the mammoth Ziyavudin Magomedov litigation, in which it defended Halimeda International, while it has also acted for Toshiba and attracted talent from the likes of Wilberforce Chambers and King & Spalding.
