Charla Aldous Has Verdicts Worth More Than $675 Million
(Dallas) 7 April 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Charla Aldous, name partner and founder of Dallas’ Aldous & McDougal, is joining Dallas-based Baron & Budd as Special Counsel.
Baron & Budd name partner Russell Budd says the firm is “ecstatic” about the addition of Aldous.
“A talent like Charla Aldous is extremely rare,” Mr. Budd says. “She is the quintessential Texas trial lawyer. Her passion for her clients is undeniable, and her results speak for themselves.”
A veteran of more than 100 trials, Ms. Aldous has accumulated verdicts and settlements worth more than $675 million in the past five years alone. Twice since 2000, her verdicts have ranked among the nation’s Top 10.
In a statewide survey of her legal colleagues, Ms. Aldous was identified as one of the Top 100 attorneys in Texas and among the state’s Top 50 female lawyers. She has also been selected three times by D Magazine as one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas.
“This is a perfect match,” says Ms. Aldous. “Baron & Budd is a national firm with the resources and reputation to help protect individual citizens against the wrongdoing of huge corporate interests. I’ll be able to help a lot more people now.”
Ms. Aldous represents plaintiffs in general civil litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, and wrongful death lawsuits. She received her B.A. in 1982 from Austin College and her J.D. in 1985 from Southern Methodist University School of Law.
Ms. Aldous will be joined at the firm by her former law partner Cary McDougal. Mr. McDougal will also serve as Special Counsel.
Mr. McDougal has significant first chair trial experience and has completed more than 50 jury trials in both state and federal court. He practiced civil defense litigation for many years, focusing on medical malpractice, first party insurance litigation, and catastrophic personal injury cases. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1984, his Masters in Public Policy from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and his J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in 1988.
