CHICAGO, April 10, 2005 — LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Winston & Strawn LLP partner Anne E. Thar , has been appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility. She is in charge of conflicts of interest and professional responsibility at Winston & Strawn, and is the second attorney from the firm to serve on the committee. Paula Holderman, who is the firm’s director of professional development is also a member of the committee.
Before joining Winston & Strawn, Thar was vice president and general counsel for the Illinois State Bar Association Mutual Insurance Company. In that role she managed all loss prevention activities, ethical issues and professional responsibility training. She has written extensively on ethics and professional responsibility, and is a former member of the Illinois State Bar Association Special Committee on Ethics 2000.
The Committee on Professional Responsibility was established in 1978 by order of the Illinois Supreme Court to ensure that regulation of attorney conduct in Illinois was consistent with the ever changing practice of law. It currently has 17 members. Chief Justice Mary Ann McMorrow serves as the liaison between the Committee and the Illinois Supreme Court.
