LAWFUEL – Law Firm Newswire – Clifford Chance was named Law Firm of the Year at the inaugural Financial Times and mergermarket M&A Awards held last night in London. The firm also won Private Equity Legal Advisor of the Year, awarding Clifford Chance the second of the three Major Awards for law firms.
In the regional and sector awards, Clifford Chance won Russia Law Firm of the Year and Energy, Mining and Utilities Law Firm of the Year.
The Law Firm of the Year award was in recognition of the firm’s legal expertise in the mergers and acquisitions market, demonstrated by the breadth and scale of transactions managed so far this year by Clifford Chance’s European network of offices. Major deals have included advising Barclays PLC on its share exchange offer for ABN AMRO, Volkswagen on the mandatory offer by Porsche and Endesa in its response to a series of bids.
