D.C. Attorney Stefani Watterson Completes Advanced Privacy Certification
BOSTON–LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Joining Member Cynthia Larose, associate Stefani Watterson has earned certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) to be qualified for the Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPP) designation, making Mintz Levin one of only a few law firms nationally with two certified privacy professionals.
Ms. Watterson is an associate in the Communications section and practices in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on counseling wireless service providers and AM/FM broadcasters in all matters relating to licensing, system operations and regulatory obligations. Stefani also assists in counseling clients with personal data compliance regulations such as Gramm Leach Bliley, state data breach notification laws and federal customer proprietary network information regulations. Ms. Larose, a Member in Mintz Levin’s Corporate section, practices in the Boston office.
CIPP certification stresses the definitions, concepts and applications of U.S. and international privacy laws and information management practices, as well as the privacy implications of emerging technologies. This includes employee records management, workplace monitoring, contingency planning, incident handling, cookie files, Spyware, spam and other key items.
The IAPP has over 2,000 individual and corporate members, a smaller subset of whom have achieved the CIPP designation. The CIPP designation is earned by passing a comprehensive written exam consisting of privacy management techniques, regulatory familiarity and privacy protection cases and offers privacy professionals a means of distinguishing themselves among the upper tier of the privacy profession, while offering privacy-centric organizations the assurance that the individual meets a high standard of knowledge and achievement within the profession.
