While the opinions and views shared by these leaders will be global in
nature, the conversation will be aimed at helping local Dallas/Fort Worth
businesses and individuals answer the following questions: what are the
privacy issues at hand; how can they impact a business or an individual; what
are our government leaders currently doing to address the growing concern over
the loss of privacy; what role does the Internet and technology play in the
privacy debate; and what steps must a business or individual take to protect
their privacy and avoid the potential loss of their various assets such as
finances, identity and intellectual property.
“As concerns about privacy continue to run high among businesses and
individuals, many privacy advocates and business and government leaders are at
a crossroads in formulating policies and procedures that address this
important issue,” said Professor Miller. “By stimulating an exchange of
ideas, we are advancing the privacy discussion and shedding light on the vast
intricacies that are inherent in the complicated issue of privacy in America
today.”
According to W. Mike Baggett, Chairman & CEO and member of the
Litigation/Dispute Resolution Practice for Winstead, to successfully conduct
the debate on privacy it is paramount that America’s leaders establish a set
of policies and procedures that addresses the issue comprehensively, but does
not stifle the expansion and productivity of American society.
“To successfully address the debate on privacy, our business and political
leaders must dig deep into the everyday while considering the current and
future privacy issues that expose each of us to a much larger world,” said
Baggett. “Winstead is proud to team with Professor Miller and the other
panelists to examine this topic, as well as help identify some of the issues
impacting the business community and the potential risks associated with
regulating privacy.”
