DALLAS, TEXAS (November 21, 2005) – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Thompson & Knight LLP today announced the continued expansion of its international practice with the formation of an alliance with the Angolan Law firm R.C.J.E. Advogados Associados, leveraging the Firm’s global presence throughout Africa and the world.

R.C.J.E. Advogados Associados has been in practice for years, with a roster of attorneys that have extensive knowledge of Angola’s legal system and institutions. Dr. Carlos Feijó, Partner of RCJE, at the time he was Secretary of State of Angola, was responsible for the legislative reforms that were implemented in Angola, including the new petroleum law and the new private investment law.

“Thompson & Knight has been representing clients in Angola and in the whole African continent for many years. The addition of these experienced Angolan attorneys will surely enhance Thompson & Knight’s worldwide capability,” remarked Pete Riley, Managing Partner of Thompson & Knight.

“The alliance will strengthen our already significant presence in Angola” points out Alexandre Chequer, a Partner at Thompson & Knight, who emphasizes that the language and cultural identity between Brazil and Angola allows Thompson & Knight to easily integrate and work in Angola.

Thompson & Knight’s strategy accommodates global growth within its well-defined practice areas. The new office will support the Firm’s activities worldwide. “Thompson & Knight’s growth and commitment to excellence was the deciding factor for me,” said Dr. Feijó. “The Firm’s distinguished tradition in oil, gas, and energy partners well with our experience and specialization.”

“Carlos Feijó is an outstanding lawyer, and we are delighted to have him on board,” said Dallas Parker, Head of Thompson & Knight’s International efforts.
