Dentons is launching a search for a new global CEO as Elliott Portnoy plans to step down at the end of his term in November 2024.
Portnoy, who played a significant role in Dentons’ expansion to become the world’s largest law firm by lawyer count, will be involved in selecting and transitioning his successor.
Portnoy has been Dentons’ global CEO since the firm merged with SNR Denton (where Portoney was CEO) in 2013 and French law firm Salans and Canadian law firm Fraser Milner Casgrain.
The firm is considering both internal and external candidates, with a focus on diversity, and will engage an external consultancy for the search. Portnoy expressed pride in his tenure and is committed to a smooth leadership transition.
