DENVER – 14 September – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Bill Leone, United States Attorney for the District of Colorado, and Richard C. Powers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Denver Office, announced that JASON GLEN TERVORT, age 26, was indicted by a federal grand jury late yesterday for interfering with Frontier Airlines flight crew member and assault aboard an aircraft. TERVORT was arrested on September 6, 2005, and a Criminal Complaint was filed on September 7, 2005.
A detention hearing is scheduled for this afternoon before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge O. Edward Schlatter to determine whether TERVORT should be held without bond pending trial.
According to the indictment and the previous FBI affidavit in support of the Criminal Complaint, on September 6, 2005, while onboard Frontier Flight #147 from Houston, Texas to Denver, Colorado, TERVORT became disruptive, allegedly interfering with and assaulting a flight attendant. The flight was met by officers with the Denver Police Department as well as Special Agents with the FBI, where TERVORT was taken into custody.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Denver Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James Hearty.
If convicted the defendant faces up to 20 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine for interference with a flight crew, and up to 6 months imprisonment for assault aboard an aircraft.
These charges are only allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
