You will need to be highly competent at resolving issues and complaints whilst negotiating an acceptable outcome for clients (customers, shareholders, staff and community). You will do so by drawing on previous experience, similar cases and the advice and knowledge of related parties such as owners, relationship managers and in house legal advisors. As well as providing internal advice to business units, you will coach service managers assisting them to build up their own dispute resolution skills. You will be a graduate with some experience in property and consumer legislation and have a thorough understanding of the Consumer Guarantees Act, Fair Trading Act, Privacy Act and the Human Rights Act.
You will also have experience in handling complex complaints, possess excellent advocacy skills and display empathy with customers by recommending a sound and fair resolution. As you gain further experience in the role, you may be given approval to negotiate settlements with customers on a case by case basis.
Other skills required for this role include being able to identify the problem, drill down on the issues, and assess the true cause of the problem. Excellent problem solving skills based on sound reasoned arguments, as well as influencing and negotiation skills.
