Donald Findlay has reclaimed his position as Scotland’s highest earning criminal lawyer, a report will today reveal.
The veteran QC raked in around £300,000 in legal aid during the past financial year for defending accused people in some of the highest-profile court cases.
Mr Findlay, the former vice-chairman of Rangers Football Club, had been Scotland’s best paid advocate but was overtaken in 2004-5 by Paul McBride, the country’s youngest QC.
Mr Findlay’s return to the top of the legal aid league table was boosted by representing Luke Mitchell, 18, who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Jodi Jones, 14, on a secluded woodland path in Dalkeith, Midlothian, in June 2003.
