Edwards Wildman Expands Asia-Pacific Capabilities with Addition of Two Corporate Lawyers in New York City Office

Jiang has joined the firm as a partner and Jie Xiu as counsel in its Business Law Department. Jiang and Xiu will be resident in the firm’s office in New York City. Their practice focuses on all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, business ventures, and securities and corporate governance.

 

Jiang represents a broad range of clients in mergers and acquisitions and securities work in both domestic and cross-border transactions. He has represented companies in their acquisition and sale of equity interest and assets, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and special arrangements. He has particular expertise in advising US and foreign companies on investment projects in Asia, especially China, as well as counseling companies from the Asia-Pacific region in their investments in the US and overseas. Prior to joining Edwards Wildman, Jiang was a partner at Troutman Sanders.

Jiang earned his law degree and his Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, Master’s degrees from Geneva University and Webster University, and undergraduate degree from Shanghai International Studies University. Fluent in Chinese and French, he regularly speaks at conferences and has published numerous articles on conducting business in China.

 

Xiu’s practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions and corporate securities. She regularly counsels clients on domestic and foreign issues in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, listings on various capital markets, and compliance with the Securities Exchange Act. Xiu has advised American, Canadian, European and Chinese companies on corporate finance and M&A projects. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from Seton Hall University, her Master’s degree from the University of International Business and Economics, and her undergraduate degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University. Xiu is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, and a board member and head of the Risk & Compliance Committee and Securities and Commercial Law Group of the Asian Financial Society.

 

Edwards Wildman’s New York office has been expanding recently. Martin Nilsen joined the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Department last month, after serving as senior vice president, secretary and general counsel at Arch Insurance Group.
