Attorneys Formalize Internal Procedures to Minimize Waste, Reduce Energy & Promote Environmental Sustainability

Campbell, Managing Partner of Gallop, Johnson & Neuman (www.GJN.com), today announced that the law firm is the first in St. Louis to become a certified partner in the American Bar Association-Environmental Protection Agency Law Office Climate Challenge, a program to encourage law offices to become better environmental and energy stewards.
Mr. Campbell said, “Our firm has made a formal commitment to implement productive environmental sustainability measures, fueled by our awareness of the many dynamic ‘green’ issues in the world around us.

The Committee’s mission is to implement sustainable measures firm-wide to promote conservation of energy, water and natural resources by reducing, reusing and recycling and, also, by purchasing environmentally sound products. As part of this commitment, Gallop, Johnson & Neuman is implementing new sustainable measures in addition to “green” procedures the firm has honored for some time. A few of these measures include:
· Use of 30 percent post-consumer recycled paper in all legal and administrative documents.
· Using recycled paper cups and kitchenware, instead of plastic or foam cups and kitchenware.
· Recycling all paper products, including magazines, newspapers, unsolicited direct mail, cardboard boxes, legal pads, notepads, and non-proprietary or non-essential documents.
· Recycling alkaline batteries and toner cartridges to reduce landfill waste.
· Providing all personnel with ceramic coffee mugs and glass water glasses to reduce use of disposables.
· Using water purification systems to eliminate the need for water coolers or bottled water.
· Promoting energy efficiency with a “lights out” policy in empty offices after 6 p.m.
· Internal measurement and reporting on sustainability procedures by the firm’s Green Committee.
