Beth Taylor has been appointed Chief Legal Officer at Dentons following a 14 year stint at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
Toronto-based Shane Mercer has been appointed Global Chief Information Officer at the firm also, a 25-year veteran with the Firm, having led the transformation and optimized operations across platforms in the more than 85 countries where Dentons has a presence.

Dentons, the world’s largest global law firm, announced that it has appointed Beth Taylor as Global Chief Legal Officer and Shane Mercer as Global Chief Information Officer. Both Beth and Shane will be members of the Firm’s Global Management Committee, reporting to the Global CEO, Kate Barton.
Based in New York, Beth Taylor joins Dentons from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where she served as General Counsel for 14 years. Previously, she was Head of Litigation at RBS Americas and ABN AMRO. Beth, who starts her role on February 2, will work closely with Dentons’ Regional General Counsels in supporting the Firm’s priorities.
Based in Toronto, Shane Mercer has been appointed Global Chief Information Officer. During his more than 25-year tenure with the Firm, Shane has led transformation and optimized operations across platforms in the more than 85 countries where Dentons has a presence. Shane will lead Dentons’ Global Business Technology team, driving technological innovation and optimizing services across the global Firm. Shane assumes his role with immediate effect.
