Friday 16 June 2006 – LAWFUEL – Press Release Network – Mr Anton Billis, a director of Rand Mining NL (Rand Mining), and Mr Francis O’Kane, a former director of Rand Mining, were found not guilty by a jury in the District Court of Western Australia on Friday 9 June 2006. Messrs Billis and O’Kane faced charges of dishonestly using their positions as officers of Rand Mining with the intention of gaining an advantage for Ms Dagmar Blochlova. Mr O’Kane was also found not guilty of a charge of dishonestly using his position as an officer of Rand Mining with the intention of gaining an advantage for Adria Australia Pty Ltd. Mr Billis was found not guilty of being knowingly concerned in this offence. Mr Billis was also found not guilty on a charge of engaging in conduct, as an officer of Rand Mining, that resulted in the falsification of books affecting or relating to the affairs of Rand Mining. The charges arose out of an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
