The Legal Journey of Jasmine Singh

Leading US legal contracting platform that specializes in AI-driven contract lifecycle management software and e-signature solutions, has appointed Jasmine Singh as its new general counsel.

Singh goes to Ironclad from Binti, a child welfare technology company, where she served as the chief legal and people officer. In her new position at Ironclad, she will oversee all legal affairs.

Singh began her legal journey as a litigation associate after completing her education. However, after six years working at prestigious firms like Arnold & Porter and Kirkland & Ellis, she found herself overwhelmed by the demanding hours and felt her work lacked purpose, she told Bloomberg Law.

By 2015, Singh was experiencing burnout and felt “defeated,” questioning her career choice.

She recalled, “I had this moment where I was like, ‘What am I going to do? And what brings me joy?'”

Following this realization, Singh left her firm, relocated to Las Vegas, and began teaching spin classes. She spent almost a year as an instructor before finding her way back to the legal profession, this time in an in-house role as corporate counsel at 24 Hour Fitness.

Reflecting on the difference between firm and in-house work, Singh noted, “I think there is a dynamic in-house that adopts the ethos of the company”—including taking time off when the rest of the company is on vacation.

Jeremy Smith, Ironclad’s president, expressed enthusiasm about Singh’s appointment, stating that her understanding of the platform’s purpose and audience will significantly benefit the organization.

He emphasized her potential to help advance Ironclad’s mission of enhancing contract management through AI.

Singh brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having spent over two years at Binti, initially as general counsel before being promoted to chief legal officer. Her previous roles include deputy general counsel at Patreon, assistant general counsel for commercial matters at Pinterest for nearly four years, and corporate counsel at 24 Hour Fitness for two years.

Her career began in private practice as an associate at several San Francisco law firms, including Kerr & Wagstaffe, Arnold & Porter, and Kirkland & Ellis.Reflecting on her new role at Ironclad, Singh expressed her commitment to advocating for the critical role of legal departments in business strategy and impact.

She highlighted her confidence in Ironclad’s mission and its innovative AI solutions, which she believes will significantly ease the workload of legal professionals.

Chris Young, who stepped down as general counsel in June after six years with Ironclad, continues to serve as a part-time advisor during the transition.

Before joining Ironclad, Young was the general counsel at GoFundMe and spent four years as a trial lawyer at Keker Van Nest & Peters.
