Growth of New Zealand Bar: Which Are the Largest Chambers?

The New Zealand Bar continues to expand as more barristers join the independent bar. The Law Society’s snapshot of the profession in 2021 showed almost 1600 barristers in practice, compared to 1100 three years earlier. The current figure will also have grown as older lawyers join the bar, more younger lawyers see it as a valuable career choice beyond joining a firm or working as in-house counsel.
