Toronto, Canada – GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) recommends its V.17 Fax Modem software which implements the ITU-T V.17 recommendation for a two-wire modem for facsimile applications with data rates up to 14,400bps. QAM is used as the modulation scheme providing synchronous line transmission at 2400 baud.
This V.17 soft fax modem solution operates within a multi-tasking environment or as a stand-alone application and is optimized for fixed-point arithmetic. It features half-duplex mode of operation supporting V.24 interchange circuits, and its frequency carrier operates at 1800Hz with V.2 transmitted power level. The V.17 fax software provides exchange of rate sequences during start-up to establish the data-rate, coding, and any other special facilities. Its trellis coding rates are from 7200 to 14000bps. The embedded fax software is compatible with commonly used processors such as TI C5000 and C6000 series DSPs, ARM processors and ADI DSPs and operates under such operating systems as Windows, VxWorks, and Linux.
