DALLAS (LAWFUEL) – The Dallas criminal defense law firm Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl LLP is pleased to announce the addition of respected military justice attorney Colby Vokey.
In addition to his focus on military law matters, Vokey also represents clients in state and federal courts in cases involving white-collar crimes, serious felonies, securities fraud, tax fraud, mortgage loan fraud, and grand jury investigations, among others.
Vokey recently retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel following a distinguished military career spanning more than 20 years. His reputation for integrity and commitment was built representing U.S. service members in some of the most sensitive cases arising from the war in Iraq. As chief of all Marine defense lawyers in the western United States, Vokey won well deserved praise for fighting for the rights of our men and women in uniform through the military justice system.
Vokey also gained worldwide attention for his representation of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp and his straightforward analysis and direct comments about the military tribunal system. He has been profiled by National Public Radio and national print publications, including The Wall Street Journal.
A Marine artillery officer during the Gulf War, Vokey earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law while serving his country.
“Everyone deserves fair treatment in court, and my clients know that I’ll fight for that right,” Vokey says. “I am very excited about the opportunity to continue my work at Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl, and proud to be working alongside some of the top criminal defense attorneys in the country.”
