Mr. Laswell joins Hicks Thomas following an eight-year year tenure as a partner at Houston’s Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, where he practiced commercial litigation, corporate governance and securities litigation.

During his more than 20 years of practice in Houston, Mr. Laswell has represented some of the country’s largest energy firms in both domestic and international disputes. Mr. Laswell’s oil and gas clients have benefited from his background as a chemical engineer.
In addition to his highly regarded work in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Laswell also handles complex multidistrict securities litigation, insurance coverage disputes, accounting malpractice claims, shareholder derivative lawsuits, and professional liability matters.

He also is a director of the University of Houston Law Alumni Association, and a major fundraiser for his alma mater.
