LawFuel.com – The Attorney Newswire – A woman who sued for $1.1 million and received an award of $237,000 after a car accident has had her award reduced to $142,000 after using Twitter when she recorded having “an epic weekend.”
The Plaintiff, Omiesha Daniels, broke her arm and suffered other injuries after the accident although she could still work as a hairstylist.
The defense lawyer found details about her New Orleans partying weekend, which included pictures partying and carring a purse using her broken arm. When presented to the jury, her award was reduced. She was, her attorney said, “sunk by Twitter.
“Those kinds of comments and that level of activity hurt the pain and suffering claim, even when she was saying she couldn’t work like she used to.”
