In a strategic move to strengthen its presence as the north west’s leading law firm, DLA has announced two key appointments.

Philip Rooney, who led DLA’s national Real Estate group for the last six years, will become the new Office Managing Partner in Liverpool as of 1 May 2004.
Through his career as a real estate lawyer, Philip has specialised in property development and investment, joint ventures and development finance, acting for a wide range of public and private sector organisations.

Philip, who has been based in Liverpool throughout his career, said:

“I am looking forward to leading DLA’s Liverpool office and being able to spend more time here. Liverpool is undergoing a renaissance in which DLA has been delighted to be involved, including acting for Liverpool City Council on the redevelopment of City Square, advising Liverpool Vision on the development of the Fourth Grace and acting for English Partnerships on the Kings Waterfront scheme.]

“We have recently invested £500,000 in the refurbishment of our India Buildings offices, another sign of our commitment to the region and look forward to playing our role in the continued resurgence of the Liverpool City Region.”
Mike Prince, the current Liverpool Office Managing Partner, has been appointed Chairman of DLA’s north west corporate group.

Mike’s appointment will reinforce the strength of DLA’s Liverpool and Manchester corporate teams. Mike, who has more than 20 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer, will work closely with David Cadwallader and Stephen Devlin, the location heads in Liverpool and Manchester, to further integrate the North West teams as the leading practice in the region.
