JACKSONVILLE, August 4, 2004 Read all today’s legal news, law news, law firm announcements & legal research at LAWFUEL – Holland & Knight’s legislative and regulatory practice continues its expansion with the arrival of private consultant and former elected official and lobbyist Virginia (Ginny) D. Myrick. Myrick, a senior policy advisor in the firm’s Jacksonville office, is the fifth significant national addition to the firm’s Public Policy and Regulation Group this year.
Myrick brings considerable experience in new business development, government relations, and land use at the local government level. As a private consultant, she represented several of the largest underground utility rehabilitation companies in North America, secured the largest contract ever awarded in North America for sewer rehabilitation using pipe-bursting technology, represented the first private land trust in North Florida, and secured appropriations, property tax relief and funding shifts for airport, seaport and military clients.
Myrick’s background includes 13 years of government service. As county commissioner on Jacksonville’s City Council, she advanced legislation to establish and fund Florida’s largest homeless center, and positively impacted crime rates and urban park restoration. She was appointed chief state lobbyist for Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney and managed the city’s team of lobbyists involved in policy and legislative issues in the Florida Legislature. Following her tenure on the Mayor’s executive staff, she served as vice president of Government Affairs for the Jacksonville Port Authority, where she focused on tax, Brownfields, infrastructure, transportation and international trade issues for both the Jacksonville airport and seaport.

Myrick earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees summa cum laude from the University of Central Florida. She is a Fellow in Government at the University of North Florida and a former doctoral candidate at Texas Tech University. Myrick has served in numerous volunteer, leadership positions in the nonprofit community, including Founding and Chairing the Board for two years, of the I.M. Sulzbacher Homeless Center. She is the immediate Past Chair of the North Florida Trust for Public Lands Advisory Board, vice chair of the Florida Community Trust as an appointee of Governor Jeb Bush, and is a former vice chair of the Florida Humanities Council.
