Josh Escovedo Named Co-Managing Shareholder of Buchalter’s Sacramento Office

Buchalter is pleased to announce that Josh Escovedo has been named Co-Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Sacramento office, joining James “Jim” Dyer in the leadership role. Dyer, a founding Shareholder of the office since 2017, has helped guide its transformation into one of Sacramento’s largest and most dynamic law practices.

Dyer, who is also a member of Buchalter’s Board of Directors, has led the Sacramento office in undergoing three major expansions and welcoming numerous lateral additions, including the 2024 integration of the Trainor Fairbrook team. With over 45 attorneys, it has grown to be one of the largest and most active law offices in the city, offering a wide range of legal services across numerous industries. In addition to continuing to lead the Sacramento office, Dyer will now also contribute to the broader strategic growth efforts across the firm’s expanding footprint.

“Jim’s steady vision and longstanding relationships have made the office a model for growth, collaboration, and client service,” said Adam J. Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “As Jim expands his involvement in firm-wide strategy, Josh brings a dynamic perspective that complements the existing leadership. Together, they form a strong and forward-looking team.”

Escovedo is a seasoned litigator with a practice spanning intellectual property, real estate, business, and sports law. He has quickly established himself as a leader within the firm and a key contributor to the Sacramento office’s momentum. His practice includes complex commercial litigation such as breach of contract, shareholder disputes, and fraud actions, along with deep experience in trademark and copyright litigation and transactions. He also regularly advises commercial property owners and developers on a range of real estate matters, including lease and purchase disputes and development-related claims.

“I’m grateful to step into this leadership role alongside Jim, whose work has made the Sacramento office what it is today,” said Escovedo. “Our office is thriving because of the culture Jim built — one that values entrepreneurial thinking and strong relationships. I’m excited to be part of this next chapter.”

Dyer has long been a trusted advisor to clients throughout California and beyond. He is a seasoned corporate and bank regulatory attorney with more than 30 years of experience. Dyer has been named Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” in Sacramento for both Corporate Law and Business Organizations and has consistently been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Sacramento Magazine, and The American Registry for his work in corporate and business law.

“The team we have built in Sacramento is remarkable. I look forward to seeing Jim and Josh build on the existing foundation — both in Sacramento and across the firm,” added Bass.
