Law Firm Gardere Bolsters Global Intellectual Property & Entertainment Practice in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY (LAWFUEL) – Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is proud to announce the expansion of its services in Mexico City with the addition of Israel Perez Correa, who will lead the firm’s Latin American intellectual property and entertainment law practices.

Mr. Perez represents domestic and international clients in matters of corporate and IP law, including patent, trademark, copyright and licensing matters, with particular emphasis in copyright and trademark prosecution, litigation and counseling.

Prior to joining Gardere, Mr. Perez handled intellectual property and entertainment affairs for TV Azteca, one of the largest broadcast companies in Latin America. At TV Azteca, he prepared and negotiated distribution, co-production and broadcasting agreements; assisted with digital copyrights, foreign trademarks and neighboring rights; and served in an advisory role on intellectual property structures and music rights.

“Israel is an extremely talented and accomplished lawyer. Through his experience with TV Azteca, he will provide our clients with a unique understanding of their legal matters,” says Roberto Arena, Gardere, Arena y Asociados Managing Partner. “We look forward to a long association with him.”

Mr. Perez earned his Licenciado en Derecho (law degree) from Universidad la Salle in 2003, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. A founding partner of Pérez Correa y Asociados, S.C., he began his legal career with Olivares & Cia, S.C.

“We are exceptionally pleased to welcome Israel to Gardere,” says Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good. “With his addition there is an added dynamic to our IP and entertainment practices that we are very excited about, and he will help expand our existing work in Mexico and beyond.”
