MIAMI– LAWFUEL – US Law Firm Announcements –Paul C. Savage, Of Counsel with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
“Greenberg Traurig has demonstrated a commitment to environmental sustainability by formalizing a Green Building and Sustainable Development Practice Group to educate and counsel the business community as they make and implement their sustainability initiatives. Paul Savage’s certification is part of that commitment,” said Cliff Schulman, Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Environmental Practice and a Shareholder in the firm’s Miami office. “We can boast two of the just 26 attorneys nationally accredited by the USGBC as LEED APs. As a LEED AP, Paul will be able to assist clients and the development team in evaluating and navigating the LEED certification process, as well as advising clients on rapidly emerging incentive-based and mandatory regulatory requirements pertaining to green building.”
While admitted to practice law in Florida, Savage is also a member of the Georgia Bar and is the only Georgia-admitted attorney currently with this designation in the USGBC website directory of LEED APs. By becoming a LEED AP, Savage joins a select group of attorneys nationwide who have recognized the significance of “green” building trends on the future of the building industry and have responded by getting certified.
With Savage’s LEED AP designation, firm clients will be able to earn one point toward LEED Certification for their projects, if a LEED AP is not otherwise on the project team. The LEED Green Building Rating System© is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Savage, Of Counsel in Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, has more than 10 years of experience in governmental and environmental law, including building code amendments and challenges (most recently related to green building issues); local government enforcement proceedings and appeals; environmental due diligence; indoor air quality issues; water and sewer requirements; coastal construction permitting, docks and submerged lands; and limestone rock mining issues. Savage received his B.S. from the University of Florida in 1991 and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1996.
