LAWFUEL – Britney Spears’ matrimonial issues have become more acrimonious with a tearful meeting after the 25-year-old singer left her lawyers’ office yesterday.
The Daily Telegraph reports that her ex-husband Kevin Federline, 29, has served legal papers on some of her closest friends and associates in an attempt to win sole custody of the couple’s young sons, asking them to testify as to Miss Spears’s fitness as a parent.
The divorce was finalised less than two weeks ago, when the couple agreed to split custody 50-50 of Sean Preston, 22 months, and Jayden James, ten months.
But a source close to Federline said that following reports of her increasingly erratic behaviour – including claims she frolicked topless in a pool with former assistant Shannon Funk – he became worried that she was exposing the boys to “unnecessary risk” and decided to apply for sole custody.
Miss Funk was the third of Miss Spears’s associates to be served with legal papers.
