LAWFUEL – Lawyer Newswire – International law firm Clifford Chance LLP has announced the promotion of 38 lawyers to the partnership, including the promotion of four partners to the firm’s Asian arm from its 28-office global network, effective 1 May 2007.

Clifford Chance Managing Partner David Childs commented:

In Asia, the new partners are:

* Cao Yanping (Shanghai) – Yanping specialises in M&A, private equity/venture capital financing, and securities offering. She is admitted in New York and California and worked in New York and Silicon Valley for six years before returning to China in 2003. Yanping worked on the first ever Renmimbi bond offering in China.
* David Poureshagh (Tokyo) – David specialises in debt and equity capital markets including convertible bonds, warrants and subordinated debt offerings, EMTN commercial paper and asset backed programmes, securitisations as well as other structured debt transactions. He has worked in Clifford Chance’s London, Hong Kong and New York offices. David is admitted in England & Wales and Hong Kong and has worked on a number of novel transactions including the convertible bond issue by Livedoor in connection with its take-over bid for Nippon Broadcasting Systems, the mezzanine facility and warrants for the acquisition by Bain Capital and Advantage Partners of the MEI Conlux business, and advising Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia on the first Mongolian euro medium-term note (EMTN) programme and bond issuance.
* James Wadham (Hong Kong) – James specialises in commercial litigation with particular focus on contentious regulatory work. He has advised on a broad range of substantial, complex commercial disputes and regulatory matters. James’ recent experience includes advising financial institutions on internal and regulatory investigations and advising the Liquidators of a Hong Kong listed company in commencing a substantial audit negligence claim. He is admitted in New Zealand, Hong Kong and England & Wales.
* David Wilson (Tokyo) – David specialises in finance and lending work and has significant experience across Asia in leveraged and acquisition finance. David has spent over twelve years working in Clifford Chance’s leading offices including Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Tokyo and as in-house counsel for various investment banks. David worked on the acquisition of Vodafone KK by Softbank in Japan, a groundbreaking deal for which the firm was awarded M&A Deal of the Year – IFLR Asia Awards 2007. He is admitted in England and Wales, Australia and Hong Kong.
