LawFuel – Michael Battle, the former Justice Department official who several months ago told eight U.S. attorneys that they were being fired, on Monday joined the Washington DC office of Texas-based law firm Fulbright & Jaworski.
He was named a partner at the Fulbright & Jaworski law firm Monday.
Battle resigned last month after less than two years as director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. At F&J he will focus on commercial and civil litigation.
As head of the office that oversees 94 U.S. attorneys, Battle made the Dec. 7 telephone calls to fire six of the eight U.S. attorneys whose dismissals led to congressional hearings and accusations by Democrats of political cronyism. Although Justice Department officials have said Battle was not part of the decision-making process on the firings, congressional Democrats seized on the resignation as evidence of professional dissatisfaction over the controversy.
