LAWFUEL – Press Release Service – A former teacher at Bell High School in Bell, California, who possessed hundreds of images of child pornography that he downloaded from the Internet, has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison.

Jay E. Rogers, 56, of Downey, was sentenced yesterday to 70 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography. Pursuant to the sentence imposed by United States District Judge Audrey B. Collins, following the prison term, Rogers will have to serve 10 years on supervised release and he will be required to register as a sex offender.

Rogers came to the attention of federal authorities after his name was found on a list of paid subscribers to a child pornography website. Rogers was arrested on April 29, 2005, after federal agents seized computer equipment and 22 binders, each containing child pornography, from his residence. An examination of one of the binders revealed that Rogers had placed more than 300 printed images of child pornography inside plastic page protectors. At the time he made this binder, Rogers was employed as a teacher at Bell High School.

This case was the result of a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
