LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – A medical expert has told a House panel that executives with a company that makes a widely used diabetes drug threatened to sue after he raised safety concerns, AP reports.
Doctor John Buse says in 1999, he raised questions about heart problems among some patients using Avandia. Buse is head of endocrinology at the University of North Carolina and is incoming president of the American Diabetes Association.
He says the company that later became GlaxoSmithKline warned him that executives wanted to hold him accountable for a four billion dollar drop in stock.
