LawFuel – The Law Newswire – The investigation into the abduction of Madeleine McCann centred last night on the home of a Russian computer expert who did some work for the formal suspect Robert Murat, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Sergey Malinka, a computer expert, is understood to be helping the police with their investigation
The flat, yards from the church where the four-year-old’s parents have prayed regularly, is linked to Sergey Malinka.
He is a business associate of Mr Murat, a British expatriate, and set up a property website for him. Mr Malinka is not under suspicion and is understood to be helping police with their investigation.
It is reported that police were led to him after studying Mr Murat’s telephone records and discovering that they spoke shortly after Madeleine’s disappearance, two weeks ago.
Just after 6pm yesterday, two black cars drove up at speed to the property and six plain clothes officers went into the block, accompanied by Mr Malinka. Two forensic science officers also went in.
At 8pm police emerged with bags carrying a set of computers and the 22-year-old Russian left with them. As he got into the back of a police car, Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, walked past, hand-in-hand, with their heads bowed on their way back from the church.
