NSW Police Force Commissioner Ken Moroney will today renew his appeal for speeding and negligent drivers to curb their errant ways.

In an open letter to those motorists who have no regard and no thought for their own safety and that of other road users, Commissioner Moroney has described their acts as “sheer bastardry”.

“You drive as though there is no tomorrow,” Commissioner Moroney said. “Let me assure you that there is a tomorrow and for so many of those who fall foul of your moronic acts, there is a human face to all that you do.”

The Commissioner’s warning comes two days after the funeral of a NSW Police Force officer who lost his life “as a result of a needless act” on our roads.

Mr Moroney reminded motorists who choose to speed or drive in a negligent manner that the consequences can be severe.
