LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Portuguese police are investigating claims that Madeleine McCann could have been abducted by burglars behind a series of break-ins at the Algarve holiday complex from which she disappeared 110 days ago, the Times reports.
Detectives are due to reinterview several members of staff at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz. They are also expected to speak to two British tourists who claim that they may have seen the abductor.
Pamella Fenn, 70, who lives in the apartment above where the McCann family was staying, said that in the weeks leading up to Madeleine’s disappearance she had scared off an intruder at her apartment who appeared to have a key to the properties. Mrs Fenn’s niece has already told British police that she had seen a man, resembling a suspect seen by other witnesses, hanging around the McCanns’ ground-floor apartment about the time that Madeleine went missing.
Portuguese detectives were also expected to interview a security guard, chambermaid and two bar staff who worked at the Ocean Club.
