Leading IT lawyer Dr. Jan Geert Meents joins DLA Piper

LAWFUEL – Law Firm Newswire – DLA Piper is delighted to announce that leading IT lawyer Dr Jan Geert Meents will join its Technology, Media and Commercial (“TMC”) practice as a partner in Munich. Jan Geert currently heads CMS Hasche Sigle’s Munich Technology law practice, which he founded in 1999. He will work closely with Office Managing Partner, Thomas Jansen to expand DLA Piper’s offering.

Jan Geert has over eight years’ experience advising IT companies and national and international businesses. Jan Geert’s main areas of practice include IT and outsourcing projects, however he also specialises in technology law, eCommerce and data protection. In addition, he played a major role in developing the industry expertise required for M&A projects in the technology sector.

DLA Piper’s Munich office was established in August 2007 and focuses on TMC, private equity and venture capital transactions. Jan Geert’s appointment will advance the development of the TMC team particularly as there are synergies between his contacts and existing clients of DLA Piper.

Jan Geert has a law degree from the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and also holds a Doctor’s degree from the Westfälische Wilhelms University of Münster.

Jan Geert will officially join DLA Piper later this year.
