Leeds – 20 June – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (“DLA Piper”) has advised the Land Registry on its appointment of IBM as its IT provider in respect of its e-conveyancing programme. The programme is set to transform the process of buying and selling property in England and Wales by converting the current paper-based conveyancing system into electronic documents, requisitions and signatures. It is a central pillar of the government’s agenda to modernise public services.
IBM will assist the Land Registry in the development and build of the IT infrastructure required to support e-conveyancing.

Their extensive experience of IT procurement in the public sector made them ideal to work with.”
DLA Piper’s team leader, Stewart James, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Land Registry on this contract. It is the first project that we have completed using OGC’s new Decision Map Guidance for IT Procurements, which proved very helpful in reaching a balanced agreement within the challenging timescales available.”
The e-conveyancing service is scheduled to be piloted in 2007.
