London, December 17, 2004 – LAWFUEL – First with law news – Steptoe & Johnson LLP has added Todd Corey, a dual-qualified English solicitor and New York attorney, to its Insurance and International Dispute Resolution Groups in London, effective immediately.
Mr. Corey originally worked as an attorney in private practice in New York, before moving to London to pursue a career as an English solicitor, where he worked for US law firm Howrey Simon Arnold & White LLP. He qualified as a solicitor two years ago.
Mr Corey’s practice focuses on contentious insurance matters. He has represented clients in the courts of London and New York, and his cases have included asbestos and other coverage disputes under general liability policies.
He has also advised on non-contentious insurance issues, including counselling one of Europe’s largest reinsurers on the impact of the EU Directive and UK regulations relating to insolvency of insurance companies.
“We are delighted that Todd has joined our London office. With his experience in large and complex insurance disputes, he will be a valuable addition to our fast-growing insurance practice”, said Maury D. Shenk, Managing Partner of Steptoe’s London office.
“We have no doubt that Todd’s US background will be a very useful asset for clients who are grappling with US liability issues”, said Angus Rodger, head of the Insurance Group in London.
Steptoe & Johnson has had offices in London for four years. The firm has one of the US’s foremost insurance and reinsurance law practices, and established its London Insurance Group at the start of 2004. The group now acts for several of the world’s largest insurance and reinsurance companies, intermediaries and financial institutions.
