Lovells wins WORLDleaders International IP award for Trademark Excellence

LAWFUEL – Law Firm Announcements – Lovells have received the WORLDleaders International Trademark Excellence award for our work representing the Swedish retailing giant Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) in a dispute against a Russian holder of the H&M trademark in Russia. The award was announced at a ceremony in London on 15 November.

The WORLDleaders awards, run by legal publishers Informa Law, are designed to recognise outstanding achievements by IP practitioners. The Hennes & Mauritz litigation was handled by Moscow consultant Natalia Gulyaeva and associate Konstantin Bochkarev with support of London partner David Latham. We represented H&M at the court of first instance, appeal and cassation appeal within a period of seven months. All courts ruled that the Russian holder had no rights to the H&M trademark.
Comment: We are delighted to have been awarded for this successful litigation which has made the Russian market available for H&M who are currently seriously considering business expansion to Russia.
