LUCE FORWARD ATTORNEY KIRSTEN SOLBERG NAMED TO REGIONAL TASK FORCE ON THE HOMELESS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP today announced that Kirsten M. Solberg, an attorney in the firm’s San Diego office, was named a new member of the Regional Task Force on the Homeless’ (RTFH) board of directors. The San Diego County non-profit implements effective solutions that help prevent and eventually end homelessness in the region.

One of Solberg’s first tasks as a RTFH board member was to assist in the organization’s annual Point-In-Time Count (PITC), a thorough, block-by-block count of San Diego County’s homeless population involving 550 volunteers. Results indicate that the County’s homeless count is up 3.3 percent from last year – proving that Solberg’s and RTFH’s other board members’ efforts are greatly needed.

“Having recently worked with Father Joe’s Villages on its new 15th & Commercial project Downtown, which will offer much needed long-term transitional housing as well as permanent affordable housing, my interest to help that underserved population was piqued,” says Solberg, whose practice at Luce Forward focuses primarily on real estate transactions. “The Regional Task Force on the Homeless’ mission is consistent with my passion for giving men, women and children an opportunity to make a better life for themselves.”

With projects such as PITC, RTFH manages the county-wide Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a comprehensive and secure online data system used by service providers to conduct case management, to track persons served, to refer individuals and families to critical resources, and to gather and analyze key demographics and trends. Charged with this responsibility by the Regional Continuum of Care Council (RCCC), the RTFH is the data center on homelessness for our region. By working together with business and community leaders, RTFH can better understand homelessness, develop best practices and ensure sustainable solutions that enable people to become housed.
