LawFuel.com – 14 September 2009 – Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, a prominent California law firm, today announced Howard L. Armstrong has joined the firm’s San Diego office as Of Counsel. Armstrong will be a member of the Real Estate Securities and Finance practice group.
Armstrong, who was most recently Counsel at Latham & Watkins, has a background in both public securities and public and private mergers and acquisitions. He is experienced in forming and establishing the alternative entity structures used in real estate deals and LLCs. In his practice, he also handled real estate joint venture transactions for large venture capital and private equity firms.
As part of the firm’s Real Estate Securities and Financing group, Armstrong will be working with Partner Darryl Steinhause who chairs the group and pioneered the legal structure for the modern tenant-in-common syndication model more than 10 years ago.
“Howard has valuable expertise in structuring real estate joint ventures and related transactions as well as public securities,” said Kurt L. Kicklighter, Luce Forward’s Managing Partner. “We are committed to strategically expanding across the state in areas we believe will better serve our clients’ needs and we know Howard’s addition will augment the services we currently offer.”
Armstrong received his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School, his MBA from the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania and his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
“Luce Forward has a strong and nationally recognized real estate securities and finance practice,” Armstrong said. “I look forward to the possibilities available to my practice, the firm and its clients as we work to further build out this growing practice area.”
Luce Forward’s Real Estate Securities and Finance practice group works with real estate securities and financing vehicles including funds, REITs, TICs, debentures and DSTs for a broad array of investments such as retail, office, hospitality and multifamily properties, as well as distressed debt mezzanine financing and senior financing.
