Philadelphia, Pa. (Lawfuel) – April 15, 2008 – Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that Michael K. Jones, a registered patent attorney who had an earlier career in engineering, has joined the firm’s intellectual property practice as a partner in the Philadelphia office.
Mr. Jones handles all aspects of intellectual property and has particular experience in strategic intellectual property counseling and portfolio management, patent procurement (including domestic and foreign patent prosecution), opinions, licensing, and enforcing and defending IP rights. He concentrates in the areas of electromechanical, mechanical and electrical systems.

Mr. Jones joined Pepper Hamilton from Woodcock Washburn LLP in Philadelphia, where he was a partner. Before earning his law degree, he was a patent agent with that firm. Earlier in his career, he was an engineer for more than ten years with the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Ship Systems Engineering Station.
Mr. Jones has counseled clients in a variety of industries, including consumer products and electronics, medical devices, communications, robotics and automated systems, clean technologies, biometrics, printing and imaging systems, vessel design and construction, propulsion and auxiliary systems, manufacturing techniques, advanced materials and business methods.

Mr. Jones is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy (B.S. in marine engineering systems and mechanical engineering, 1987) and Rutgers University School of Law (J.D. 1998). He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
