New York, December 6, 2004 – LAWFUEL – First for law news – Baker & McKenzie LLP announced today that Mark R. Winston has joined the Firm’s Litigation Practice as a Partner in its New York office. He comes to Baker & McKenzie from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.
Winston’s practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, and internal corporate investigations. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney for 14 years, Winston led some of his office’s most complex white-collar criminal investigations and prosecutions in areas such as securities fraud, bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, and environmental violations. He also served as the District of New Jersey’s Environmental Crimes Coordinator for two years. Winston has extensive courtroom experience and was sole or lead counsel for the U.S. Government in numerous criminal trials.

Winston received a number of distinguished awards and commendations while serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, including the Director’s Award for Superior Achievement from the Executive Office for United States Attorneys of the Justice Department.
Prior to becoming an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Winston practiced law at New York and London corporate law firms, and clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Neal P. McCurn of the Northern District of New York and for Ohio Court of Appeals Judge John V. Corrigan in Cleveland. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago in 1980 and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1983.
