New York, February 16, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler LLP has named one new partner and three counsel. Alexander Shapiro is a new partner, having been promoted from counsel. Dahlia Balsam Doumar, Stephanie Bunting Glaser and Catherine Grevers Schmidt were named counsel. They were previously associates at the firm.
Alexander Shapiro’s practice focuses primarily on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He has represented clients in a variety of industries in connection with initial public offerings, other registered equity and debt offerings, tender offers, going private transactions, Rule 144A offerings, acquisitions involving both public and privately-held companies, and private equity and venture capital transactions. Mr. Shapiro also regularly advises clients in the areas of securities regulation and corporate governance. Mr. Shapiro became Counsel in 2003.
Dahlia Balsam Doumar specializes in tax law. She has advised clients on numerous matters, including corporate and partnership tax issues, corporate reorganizations and recapitalizations, business acquisitions and dispositions, partnership and limited liability company investments, not-for-profit organization and private foundation tax issues and charitable contributions and solicitations.
Stephanie Bunting Glaser represents companies in the areas of intellectual property, entertainment and technology transactions. Ms. Glaser’s work includes drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, publishing agreements, software and multimedia licenses, web site development and other Internet-related agreements. In addition, Ms. Glaser provides copyright, trademark and privacy counseling and advises on the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
Catherine Grevers Schmidt specializes in estate planning, administration of trusts and estates, Surrogate’s Court practice, and planning for charitable giving and for the inter-generational transfer of wealth. Her practice encompasses representation of high net worth individuals and families in tax and estate planning as well as individuals, banks and trust companies in their capacity as executors and trustees.
