New York (January 7, 2006) – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Timothy Bass, Jane Engelhardt, Emilie T. Hsu, and William L. Sturman, Jr., resident in the firm’s New York office, have been named Counsel to the firm, effective January 1, 2006.
Timothy Bass is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and the Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities Groups. He has worked on a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions for both corporate and private equity clients, mezzanine debt and equity financings, restructurings and high yield securities issuances. Mr. Bass joined the firm in 1997. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago (1997); his M.B.A. in analytic finance and business economics with highest honors from the University of Chicago (1994), and his B.A. in Greek and Latin from Yale University (1988). Mr. Bass is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Jane Engelhardt is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and the Investment Management Practice Group. Her practice focuses on the private equity fund area, in which she has extensive experience. Ms. Engelhardt joined the firm in 1996. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School (1996), where she was a Stone Scholar, and her M.A. and MPhil from Columbia University in English and Comparative Literature. Ms. Engelhardt received her A.B. from Bryn Mawr College.
Emilie T. Hsu is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department. Her practice focuses on derivatives and structured finance, with an emphasis on fund-linked structured products and equity derivatives. Prior to first joining the firm in 1998, she was as an associate at Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. From 2001-2002, she was an associate in the Equity Derivatives Department of Morgan Stanley. Ms. Hsu received her J.D. and a Parker School Certificate in International Law (with honors) from Columbia Law School (1997) where she was a Stone Scholar. She obtained her B.A., summa cum laude, in Philosophy and Religion from Columbia College (1994).
William L. Sturman, Jr. is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and the Investment Management Practice Group. His experience includes advising sponsors of leveraged buyout, international private equity, merchant banking and other private investment funds. Prior to joining Debevoise in 2000, he was an associate at Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. Mr. Sturman received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School (1995) with honors; his LL.M. from New York University (1996); and a B.S. in Finance with honors from Boston College (1988).
