NEW YORK, January 9, 2006 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Joseph Sverchek has joined its New York office as a partner. Joe is an experienced capital markets attorney who also has expertise in corporate, international, banking and financial services law.
“Adding Joe is another step in our continuing commitment to expand our capital markets presence,” said Loeb & Loeb’s Co-Chair Michael Beck. “We already represent a number of major players in the capital markets and Joe, along with other lateral attorneys we have added in the last year, will enhance our ability to service those types of clients.”
Mr. Sverchek regularly represents sponsors and placement agents in connection with the structuring of asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) programs in both the U.S. and Euro markets. Recently this work has involved advising with respect to alternative liquidity arrangements including extendable commercial paper notes.
Mr. Sverchek’s capital markets work has also included collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), medium term notes (MTNs) and structured investment vehicles (SIVs). His capital markets transactions include both cash and synthetic securities.
His extensive asset securitization experience includes transactions involving trade receivables, equipment leases, automobile loans (including sub-prime), tax liens, automobile leases, dealer floor plan receivables and franchisee and other loan types.
His corporate work has included contracts, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, SEC filings and compliance, securities offerings and placements and general corporate counseling.
Mr. Sverchek’s international experience has involved representation of U.S. and foreign persons with respect to cross border business opportunities, joint ventures, loans and other credit facilities, debt/equity swaps, privatizations and project finance. With respect to banking and financial services, he has represented bank holding companies, foreign and domestic banks, thrift institutions and their subsidiaries, in matters such as changes of control, federal and state regulatory compliance, establishment of de novo banks, secured and unsecured lending, loan syndications and participations and loan workouts.
Mr. Sverchek speaks and writes regularly on topics including capital markets, securities, and corporate law.
He was previously Special Counsel at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft.
