NEW YORK – LAWFUEL – Best for law news – Piper Rudnick attorneys Christine Jaskiewicz and Monica McCabe have been honored for the pro bono work they perform for Cancer and Careers, part of the philanthropic division of Cosmetic Executive Women, a leading trade organization in the beauty industry, the law firm has announced.

Ms. Jaskiewicz and Ms. McCabe were honored guests on the dais at CEW Foundation’s annual Holiday Lunch and Auction in the Grand Ballroom of New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Cancer and Careers is an on- and off-line resource giving support to working women who have been diagnosed with cancer. It provides them with tools to manage their battle with the disease so that they may continue to work during and after their treatment. Cancer and Careers also provides advice and assistance on a broad array of subjects, such as stress management, legal rights, how to interact with colleagues, and how to shop for a wig.

Working on a pro bono basis, both Ms. McCabe and Ms. Jaskiewicz counseled and represented Cancer and Careers in a variety of intellectual property matters.

About the attorneys

Christine M. Jaskiewicz, an associate in the Intellectual Property practice group, focuses on the creation, acquisition, use, licensing, and protection of foreign and domestic trade and service marks, copyrights, trade dress, domain names, slogans, and advertisements for a variety of clients, including those in the fashion and entertainment industries. Ms. Jaskiewicz regularly drafts agreements that deal with the use of intellectual property rights, such as celebrity endorsement contracts and sponsorship agreements, and she is involved in intellectual property litigations and Internet-based trademark and copyright matters.

Monica McCabe, Of Counsel to the Intellectual Property practice group, has been involved in a wide variety of intellectual property matters in areas including copyright, trademark, trade dress, trade secrets, royalty disputes, and other civil litigation. She has a special interest in entertainment-related issues, such as “sampling” litigation, and has provided trademark services and litigation advice for a variety of media and fashion companies and musical groups, as well as financial and investment institutions. Ms. McCabe is also known as an author and speaker and serves on the board of advisors of World Copyright Law Report.
