NEW YORK– LAWFUEL – Class Action Lawsuit News –Named partner Steven G. Schulman today announced his resignation from Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman LLP.
“It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve at Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman,” he said in announcing his resignation. “Over the past 20 years at the firm I, together with my colleagues, have fought many successful legal battles, created ground-breaking legal decisions, made many friends, and enjoyed myself immensely. However, now is the time in my career to seek new opportunities and become more active again in the practice of law.”
For the past eight months, Schulman has taken a leave of absence from the law firm after the federal government indicted the firm, him and another partner for several criminal counts in the handling of class action lawsuits.
“Both as a former member of the law firm and as an individual, I will vigorously fight the indictments,” Schulman said. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Schulman joined the law firm in 1986. Later, he became a partner and leading class action attorney there. The firm is a leader in many of the most important class and complex cases currently being litigated in such practice areas as securities law, shareholder corporate governance and antitrust litigation, mass tort, labor, employment and false claims act litigation, healthcare and insurance litigation and human rights litigation.
Schulman said his decision comes at the start of a new year, a time when he can devote himself to new ventures as well as continue his participation to defeat the indictment. He strongly believes in the value and importance of class action law in the vindication of shareholder rights and plans to use some of his time to explain the significant positive impacts of class action litigation and its constructive impact on investors and the public interest.
