The Daily Business Review in Miami has taken top honors in The Florida Bar Media Awards Competition in the “Newspapers and Other Periodicals Under 50,000 Circulation” category. This is the fifth time in the last seven years that the Florida Bar has awarded the newspaper its Grand Prize for reporting.
The Daily Report in Atlanta received two Associated Press awards: one for its prize winning series “Grounded: A Sky Without Delta” and one for “Excellence in Beat Reporting” for its coverage of the Georgia Supreme Court race.
Legal Times in Washington D.C. was a multiple winner in this year’s Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association awards competition. Legal Times won 13 awards in total, including a Best of Show award for a four-part series last fall that looked at money, law, and politics. The Best of Show competition pitted the paper against others, including the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun. The newspaper received 12 other awards in its circulation category, including six first-place awards.
The New York Law Journal received a New York Newspaper Publishers Association Award of Excellence for Distinguished Investigative Reporting for 2006-2006 for its series “Dismantling Parole.”
The Recorder in San Francisco received six journalism awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, in addition to three Associated Press awards received earlier this year. The paper was honored in categories including Writing; Columns, Commentary and Criticism; Op-Ed pages and Environmental/Agricultural reporting. In addition, the paper was named as a winner in the Best Web Site competition for its www.callaw.com site.
